The Protestant Reformation is one of the most significant events in human history yet most people, even Protestants, know nothing about it. In honour of its 500th anniversary which falls today, below is a great primer on the world changing period.
I would like to add that Rome did have a theological and institutional response to the Protestant Reformation with the Catholic Counter-Reformation, where they even favourably responded to some of the Reformers criticisms. As you can see the video only touches the surface. It is a very complex period which is still being studied and debated today. I encourage you to learn more about it because one way or another it is something that has shaped the way we live today, especially if you’re a believer.
